Pratt Burnerd sees MACH success 15/05/2008

600 Group member Pratt Burnerd has reported major success at the recent MACH 2008 exhibition.

A “runaway success”…. “we would not have dared dream of the response we have had”, said director/general manager David Tucker.

Compared with MACH 2006, when the workholding manufacturer felt it had had an outstanding show, quality enquiries were up by more than 20 per cent every day, with an overall tally of over 25 per cent more than 2006.

The strong results are being credited to the company’s success in becoming a ‘one stop shop’ for workholding systems. Producing standard collets and chucks as well as designing and manufacturing bespoke workholding systems at its manufacturing site in Halifax, the company has broadened its range considerably during the last twelve months.

Following a substantial investment in additional machine tools, Pratt Burnerd began manufacturing large bore chucks (up to 2m diameter) during 2007 and has subsequently added to its range a variety of additional workholding mechanisms, such as wedge bars and new cylinders as well as developing new chucks, such as the new long stroke chuck (pictured) and the new 4-jaw independent chuck. It has also embarked on what is intended to be the first of several close working partnerships with comparable manufacturers offering complementary workholding systems. The Riten centres were included as part of the company’s product portfolio for the first time in the UK at MACH, for example.

“We intend to strengthen our position by continuing to extend our range of workholding systems even further to be the source for all types of rotary workholding. MACH was our first public showing of the work we have done, and the results of that show were encouraging and outstanding,” Mr Tucker concluded.
